A patient-originated research study supported by the NIHR Research Support Service, University of Birmingham
What is the research about?
Some people are able to improve or reverse Type 2 diabetes through lifestyle changes, while others find this much harder. We want to understand why. This research idea was developed by a person living with Type 2 diabetes, working alongside researchers. We are now inviting patients, carers, and members of the public to help shape the study so it reflects real-life experiences, cultures, family roles, and food practices.
Who can get involved?
- People living with Type 2 diabetes (any stage)
- People who have tried lifestyle changes
- People who have achieved remission, or not
- Family members or carers
No research experience is needed. Your lived experience is what matters.
How can you help?

• Check the research questions make sense to patients and families
• Focus on what matters most in everyday life
