Why are you asking for this information?
Our questions have been tailored to obtain the information required for projects we work on where community researchers are involved. This way we can ensure you are the best fit for the project.
Below outlines some of the reasons we collect this information:
We ask for your contact details (email and phone number) so we can contact you about any future opportunities. We won’t share your details or use them for any other reason. We ask for your demographic information such as gender, address and ethnicity to ensure you are paired with relevant projects (research projects frequently require Community Researchers from specific communities), and it helps us assess if we are effective in recruiting Community Researchers from across Birmingham’s super diverse population.
Each question has the option of ‘prefer not to say’ if you feel uncomfortable in answering any specific question. Your data will be stored securely and not shared outside of BVSC.
What projects have community researchers been involved in?
Community Researchers have been involved in a wide variety of projects from investigating what prevents people from getting tested for various diseases, through to understanding how support services for the elderly could be improved, right through to ensuring that the voices of 16-25-year-olds influence Birmingham City Council’s Youth Strategy. To find out more about past projects, take a look at https://cherp.org.uk/
How long will the projects last?
Typically projects last 6 to 8 weeks but this can vary per project. You can conduct research at times that suit you, whether this be weekends or evenings. As long as you complete it in the timeframe that’s all that matters to us!
What happens next?
Once you have completed the form a member of the team will be in touch, this will contain all the information about what happens next and who you will be in contact with throughout.
What do I do if I change my contact details?
